Cecelia (Lara) Kenshalo, 67, passed away at 6:30 am, on Friday February 17, 2012 at her home.
She was born in Alton, IL on January 24, 1945 the daughter of the late Paul Ortiz and Helena (Pinkowski) Lara.
On January 10, 1981 she married Larry Kenshalo, he survives.
She was a nurse’s assistant at Eunice Smith Nursing Home in Alton for many years. She was also an active member at the River of Life church, and enjoyed reading her bible and spending time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Dwayne and Cathilynne Flatt, of Godfrey; two daughters, Dinah McNear of Alton, and Geanna Antrobus of Alton; four step-children; six grandchildren, Michael Galliher, Katie Galliher, Lindsey Galliher, Megan Flatt, Jamie Antrobus, and Thomas Antrobus; two great-grandchildren, Corrine Galliher and Kinsey Galliher; several step-grandchildren; several brothers and sisters, Mercedes Reynolds, Armondo Lara, Theresa Borders, Marlene Griffin, Eddie and Janice Lara, and Johnny and Debbie Lara; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard Lara and Santos Lara; and two sisters, Loretta Kelly and Della Mae.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 4 pm to 8 pm Sunday February 19, 2012 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton, IL.
Funeral service will be at 11 am Monday February 20, 2012 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home.
Burial will follow at Upper Alton Cemetery.
