Catherine M. Hand, 79, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 3:50 a.m. on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at Cedarhurst in Granite City. She was born March 28, 1944, in Granite City, a daughter of the late Emil and Edna (Gerkin) Klug. She married Clarence E. Hand on June 5, 1969, in Granite City and he passed away on July 16, 2023. She retired as a purchasing agent from the Melvin M. Price Support Center after many years of dedicated federal government service. Catherine cherished time with her family, adored her grandchildren and enjoyed her days of fishing and gambling. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Donna Hand of Pontoon Beach; three grandchildren, Katherine Hand, Lauren Hand and Nathan Hand, all of Pontoon Beach; a brother and sister-in-law, Emil and Carol Klug of Granite City; several nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends. In celebration of her life, a memorial visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Thursday, March 28, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until time of a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Sharon Autenrieth officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.
