Carolyn Frances Dawson, 77, died at 2:50 p.m. on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at Alton Memorial Hospital. She was born September 15, 1940 in Alton the daughter of the late Robert and Violet (Phillips) Clayton. She was the owner of Dawson Floral Shop and enjoyed arranging silk flowers. On January 16, 1959 in Peoria, IL she married Robert Dawson and he preceded her in death on April 28, 2014. Surviving are one daughter, Sue Dawson (Micki Wilder) of Godfrey, two sons, Jeffrey Dawson of Boulder, CO and Steven Dawson of Alton, two grandchildren, Gregory Jackson (Courtney Sheehan), Katie Jackson (Ryan Hubbs), one great grandchild, Dawson Hubbs, and one brother, Robert Clayton Jr. (Alice) of Alton. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one sister, Phyllis Roggio. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of memorial service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Shaman Christopher Sutton will officiate. Burial will be at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 18, 2018 at Swan Lake Memory Garden in Peoria, IL. Memorials may be made to Burt Shelter Care.
