Carole McElyea

Carole S. McElyea, age 79, of Cottage Hills, passed away Monday, February 2, 2015, at Alton Memorial Hospital with her family by her side.She was born August 4, 1935, in Alton, the daughter of Paul and Eleanor (Eaton) Turner. She married Glen “Mack” McElyea and he preceded her in death in December of 1988.Carole was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She had worked at Women’s World for many years. She loved watching professional wrestling on television.She is survived by six children, Royal McElyea, and his girlfriend, Ruby Ratcliffe, of Wood River, Kenny McElyea and his girlfriend, Jackie Lynch, of Elsah, Bonnie and Michael Sutton of Cottage Hills, Phillip and Belinda McElyea of Brighton, Meredith Fonger of Champaign, and Tara McElyea and her fiancée, Mark Mollerus, of St. Louis; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and her beloved dog, Buddy.In addition to her husband, “Mack”; she is preceded in death by her parents; a daughter-in-law, Tammy McElyea; a granddaughter, Jenna Marie McElyea; a granddaughter-in-law, Melissa “Missy” McElyea; and her aunt and uncle who raised her, Owen and Celia Turner.Visitation will be held Thursday, February 5, 2015, from 4 to 8 pm at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton.Online condolences and guest book may be found at www.eliaskallalandschaaf.com
