Carole McGee

Carole Elaine McGee, 85, of Granite City, Illinois, passed away at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at DePaul Hospital in Bridgeton, Missouri. Born April 18, 1940, in Granite City, she was a daughter of the late Anthony Joseph and Irene (Bagi) Mangi.

She married the love of her life, Daniel J. “Danny” McGee, on July 7, 1962, at St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Venice, Illinois, and he preceded her in death on February 10, 2011. Carole retired from Olin Brass in East Alton after 15 years of service as a core cutter.

A devout Catholic, Carole was dedicated to her faith and active in her church communities. She was a longtime member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church, where she participated in parish dinners and activities throughout the years, and was most recently a devoted member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Granite City. She was also a member of the Venice Social Club and enjoyed supporting her children’s school activities through the PTA.

Carole was a beauty school graduate and lovingly tended to the hair of many family and friends. Known for her wonderful cooking and her love of conversation with friends, she will be remembered most for the deep love she held for her family.

She is survived by her three children, Michael McGee of Granite City, Christine McGee of Granite City, and John (Connie) McGee of Fairview Heights; two grandchildren, Timothy McGee and Anna McGee; a sister, Joyce Tite of Edwardsville; and two brothers, Larry Mangi of Granite City and Terry (Kathryn) Mangi of Granite City. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and many extended family members and friends.

In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters-in-law, Cheryl Mangi, Rosemary McGee, and Mary Ann Huntstein, and a brother-in-law, Tom McGee.

In celebration of her life, visitation will be held at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City, on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 2300 Pontoon Road in Granite City, with Father Alfred Tumwesigye as celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Edwardsville.
