Carol Waal

Carol Jean Vander Waal, age 65, of Edwardsville, Illinois died at 9:20 a.m. Tuesday, June 07, 2016, at her home. Carol was a retired registered nurse having worked at Anderson Hospital in Maryville. She was born May 16, 1951, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota the daughter of the late Wayne & Mary (King) Crockett. She married Douglas Vander Waal on June 30, 1972, in Sioux Falls. Besides her husband she is survived by 2 daughters, Alanna Nevenner & husband Christopher of Edwardsville and Breanna Vander Waal ( William Milby) of Glen Carbon; 4 grandchildren, Kelton, Kyden, & Kora Nevenner and Koi Kaiser & his father Adam Kaiser; 2 brothers, LeRoy Crockett & wife Shari of Wichita, Kansas and Curt Crockett & wife Jackie of Iowa; and 1 sister, Lucille “Lou” Vogt & husband, Roger of Wilmot, South Dakota. Carol was preceded in death by 1 son, Jonathon Vander Waal in 1982. Carol was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Edwardsville, Faith In Action, The Glen Ed Pantry, and a Family Hospice Volunteer. Visitation will be from 4 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, June 10, 2016, at Weber & Rodney Funeral Home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 11, 2016, at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. John Hembruch officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Family Hospice. Condolences may be expressed online at weberfuneralhome.com.
