Carl Richard "Scrap" Kaulen, 84, of Bethalto, IL died at St. Anthony's Hospital, Alton, IL, on Wednesday, May 5, 2021, at 3:15 pm. He was born October 19, 1936, in Whiting, IN to Walter Peter Kaulen & Harriet A. (Drennan) Kaulen.
He was retired after having been a construction laborer. He was a veteran of the US Army after having served 1960-1962. Carl was a former member of the Bowling League and the VFW of Bethalto, IL.
He is survived by his daughters, Debbie (Gary) Eades of Bunker Hill, IL, Cindy (Scott) Durrwachter of St. Peters, MO, Carla (Stewart) Hansen of Martin, MI, Crystal (Jeff) Jenkins of Richmond, IN, 17 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and sister, Joyce Westbrook of Austin, TX.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Eugene Kaulen, Alfred Kaulen, sisters, Elizabeth Martinez and Sophia Wilson.
Friends may call on Friday, May 14, 2021 at Kravanya Funeral Home, Bunker Hill, IL from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. Funeral services are Friday, May 14, 2021 at 1:00 pm at Kravanya Funeral Home, Bunker Hill, IL with Fr. Tom Liebler officiating. COVID 19 guidelines will be followed including mandatory masks. Burial will be at Woodburn Cemetery, Woodburn, IL.
