Calvin Buckley Fuller, 60, of Edwardsville, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.
He was born on June 7, 1966, in Louisville, Kentucky, the son of the late Charles Fuller and Betty (Buckley) Fuller.
Calvin was a graduate of MacMurray College and Howard University School of Law and dedicated more than 30 years of his life to the practice of law. He began his legal career with the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office before establishing the Calvin B. Fuller Law Office in Pontoon Beach, Illinois, where he continued to serve his clients and community as an attorney. He also enjoyed sharing his knowledge and experience with others as an instructor at Southwestern Illinois College.
Helping others was a constant throughout Calvin’s life. He was particularly passionate about advocating for children and supporting charitable causes, generously giving both his time and resources to organizations and efforts that mattered to him. He supported the Boys & Girls Club, Oasis Center, and numerous other charitable organizations and firmly believed in the importance of giving back to his community.
Those who knew Calvin will remember his unmistakable sarcastic sense of humor, his caring and generous nature, and the fierce devotion he had for the people he loved. Calvin loved to pull pranks, get laughs, and revel in the everyday fun that he so naturally brought to life. Calvin treasured these relationships and the many stories and memories that came from them.
Above all, Calvin was a devoted father. His daughter, Chloe, was a tremendous source of pride and joy in his life, and the bond they shared was especially dear to him.
Athletics were also an important part of Calvin’s life from an early age. As a multi-sport athlete in high school he earned All-State honors in baseball. He later went on to play college football. His love of sports remained with him throughout his life. He was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, St. Louis Cardinals, and St. Louis Blues and, also, enjoyed following college football, college basketball, and the NBA.
Calvin enjoyed attending horse races and placing the occasional bet, and he had a lifelong appreciation for blues music. Whether he was watching a game, spending time with family and friends, practicing law, teaching, pulling a prank, or supporting a cause close to his heart, Calvin approached life with a personality that was entirely his own. His humor, passion, generosity, and presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Calvin is survived by his beloved daughter, Chloe Fuller; his two brothers, Brad Fuller (Lisa), Clay Fuller, his niece Layla as well as many extended family members, friends, colleagues, and others whose lives he touched throughout the years.
In addition to his parents, Charles and Betty Fuller, Calvin was preceded in death by other beloved family members.
A visitation will be held on Friday, September 11, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until a family eulogy at 7:00 p.m. at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road in Glen Carbon, Illinois. A casual gathering celebrating Calvin’s life will immediately following the service, with the location to be announced.
The family would like to thank the dedicated staff of Davita in Maryville, Meridian Village and Barnes-Jewish Hospital and the other health services organizations that provided such wonderful care to Calvin.
