Burton Lionel "Burt" Godowitz, 90, passed away at 10:10 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2018 at the Illinois Veterans? Home in Quincy, IL.

Born Sept. 25, 1928 in New York, NY, he was the son of Harry and Dorothy (Kellman) Godowitz.

A veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, he served during both World War II and the Korean War and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Burt worked as a foreman for the U.S Virgin Islands Corp for 10 years. He spent 3 years in the Middle East with General Dynamics then worked with RCA in the Cape Canaveral Missile Program. He also worked in Ireland, England, Turkey, and Israel. He also traveled extensively in South America.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria D. (Maynard) Godowitz of Gillespie. They were married June 24, 1993 in the Virgin Islands. He is also survived by a daughter, Ellen Ross of New York, NY; a daughter-in-law, Wendy Godowitz of North Carolina; a stepdaughter, Lydia Branch of Peoria, IL; a stepson, John Booher of Brighton; a sister, Berniece Chavoustie of North Carolina; and cousins, Joyce Jaidel of North Carolina and Bruce Kellman of New York.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Brian Godowitz; a daughter, Bella Godowitz; and his wives Rifka, Geraldine, and Susie.
