Brian Runge

Brian S. Runge, 52, of Bethalto, passed away Friday, March 30, 2018.

Brian was born July 28, 1965 in Alton, IL. He is the son of the late James “Jim” Runge and Darlene R. (Dethrow) Runge, whom survives.

He was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Cottage Hills.  Brian was a man that loved life and struggled everyday not to let his health issues control his life.  He never met a stranger.  His sense of humor was contagious and everyone around him would soon be sharing his laughter.  His family and friends loved him dearly.  His main love was his dog, “Maddie Moe”.  He was crazy about her and she was devoted to him.  He will be missed by us all, but not forgotten.  He was the chef and owner of Pie Town in Alton.  He also worked at Madison’s in Wisconsin, The Cup in Bethalto, and Gentlin’s in Alton.  Brian enjoyed being a chef, shopping and loved getting a good bargain.  He loved spending time with his family and friends.

Along with his mother, Brian is survived by 4 sisters, Pam (Bob) Grether of Oconomowoc, WI, Kathy (Alan) Winslow of Cottage Hills, Lisa (Mike) Johnson of Irving, KY, and Debra Runge and Kathy Sidwell of Moro; 1 brother, Mike (Beth) Runge of Jerseyville; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Brian was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Michelle Runge.

Visitation will be from 4 pm to 7 pm on Friday, April 6, 2018 at Elias, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto, and again from 9:30 am until time of service at 10:30 am on Saturday, April 7, 2018.  Father Willard Meyer will officiate.  There will be a Celebration of Life after the service on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at the Wood River Moose in Wood River.

In lieu of flowers, make donations to Bethalto Boys and Girls Club for the Maddie Moe Scholarship (in care of Darlene Runge)
