Brenda Lea Simms, 73, passed away Monday, December 4, 2023 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
Born June 27, 1950 in Granite City, she was the daughter of Dean and Geneva (Howell) Zumwalt.
Brenda had various jobs in her lifetime, but really enjoyed being a child care provider to many. She was very passionate about her faith. Along with her family, this was the most important thing to her and she shared God's love with she could. Her favorite activity was cooking for her family and celebrating each and every birthday, holiday, and many "just because" occasions. All who knew Brenda knew that her passions were her faith and her family.
Although she will be deeply missed, we can rest assured that we will be with her again one day.
On October 17, 1969 in Wood River, she married Terry L. Simms. He survives.
Surviving also are two daughters, Terrah (Tom) Bevolo of South Roxana, Tanya (Mark) Shearlock of East Alton; nine grandchildren, John (Aimee) Bevolo, Michael Bevolo, Niah Bevolo, Noah Bevolo, Nolan Myers, Annie Myers (Dylan Torrey), Kristen (Pete) Krayniak, Amanda (Adam) Sheppard, Ashley (Darrell) Burton; 12 great grandchildren, Alex Krayniak, Benjamin Thompson, Ava Thompson, Gus Krayniak, Eleanor Krayniak, George Krayniak, Corbin Sheppard, Charlee Sheppard, Vivian Burton, Lucy Burton, Aidan Kelch and Amaliah Grace "Millie" Bevolo; and a brother, Larry (Carol) Zumwalt.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Randy Zumwalt and Keith Zumwalt.
Visitation will be from 11 am until time of service at 1 pm, Saturday, December 9 at Lifebrook Church of God in Bethalto.
Cremation rites will follow the service.
Interment will be in Wanda Cemetery in South Roxana.
Memorials are suggested to Lifebrook Church of God.
