Brenda Greenwood

Brenda Greenwood, age 67 of Greenville, passed away Saturday, January 3, 2026, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in O'Fallon, Illinois after multiple health complications.

Brenda Lee Smith Greenwood was born June 17, 1958.   Brenda grew up in Gary, Indiana and attended Calumet High School.  She later moved to the Hillsboro / Litchfield, Illinois area. 

Brenda married Eugene Laverne Greenwood, Sr. on August 16, 1980. They were married until his death on March 9, 2006.  During those years, Brenda worked at places like Long John Silver‘s, The Hut family restaurant, and Bailey & Associates.  

Brenda moved to Greenville Illinois around 2011. She worked at nursing homes in both Alhambra and Greenville, and also worked in home health care. She had many connections in the Greenville community and participated in small groups and Bible studies at several of the area churches. 

Brenda loved people, loved to laugh, and loved a good potluck gathering with friends. 

A Celebration of Brenda’s life will be held 11:00 am Saturday, January 24, 2026, at the Greenville Free Methodist Church. In honor of Brenda’s love for a potluck, please bring a covered dish to share after the service.

All donations raised will help with her final expenses and all donations after will be given to the Bond County Ministerial Alliance and Core Community.
