Bobby Gene Bryant, 74, died at 3:50 p.m. Monday, July 31, 2017 at Integrity of Godfrey. Born September 17, 1942 in Alton, he was the son of Charles Sherman and Amy Marie (Merrill) Bryant. Mr. Bryant owned and operated Bryant’s Auto Repair until he retired in 2007 and was a member of the Alton Moose Lodge. He was an avid bowler and NASCAR fan. He enjoyed watching races and working on cars at the Godfrey Speedway or the Tri City Speedway and spending time at the White Hall Drag Strip and the Alton Drag Strip. Surviving are three sons, Scott (Trish) Bryant of Eldred, IL, Bobby Bryant of East Alton, and Mike (Lindsay) Bryant of Wood River, six grandchildren, Diana (Glen) Kelley, Zach Bryant, Jessie Bryant, David Balicki, Jessica Feeley, and Cassandra Bryant, four step grandchildren, Corey Helgen, Kayla Bryant, Dustin (Adriana) Houseman, and Brendan (Liz) Houseman, and eight great grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother, Alan Steve Harmon of Godfrey, two step-brothers, Joe (Sue) Jones of Hammond, IN, and Roy Jones of Diamond Head, HI, a sister, Betty Norman of Jerseyville, a step sister, Ruth Jones of Denver, CO, numerous nieces and nephews, and his companion of 19 years, Alice Kenshalo of Alton. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a step brother, Jim Jones. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 4, 2017. Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. Memorials may be made to William BeDell Achievement and Resource Center (ARC).
