Bill Gene Hayes, 95, of Wilsonville, IL, died at Gillespie Health and Rehab Center, Gillespie, IL on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at 12:55 pm. He was born December 27, 1928, in Wilsonville, IL to Richard Smith Hayes & Anna Ellen Coop Hayes. He married Florence Pusich Hayes on September 1, 1951. He was a laborer for Olin. Bill was a volunteer for the Wilsonville Fire Department.
He was on the Dorchester Township Board for 59 years where he served 4 years as supervisor and the remainder as trustee. Bill was an avid gardener and loved working in his garden and sharing his produce with family and friends. He enjoyed sitting outside under his patio and visiting with friends that stopped to chat.
Bill loved his grandchildren. He is survived by his spouse, Florence Hayes, daughters, Debbie (spouse, Mike) Rossetto, Denise (spouse, Dennis) Day, grandchildren, Jana Rossetto, Michelle (spouse, Mike) (Rossetto) Woods, Dee (spouse, Dustin) (Day) Ellinger, Daniel Day, great-grandchildren, Nik Kennedy, Jayden Ellinger, Bella Kennedy, Jayse Ellinger, Mia Woods, Dalton Ellinger, Trip Woods, Maggie Woods, and sister, Betty Vannucci.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, father in law and mother in law, John and Mary Pusich, great-grandchild, Lt. Jr. Grade Zachary A.Kennedy, siblings, Richard Hayes, Donald Hayes, Wayne Hayes, Elmer Hayes, Vivian Tokraks, Dorothy Settles, Violet Koski, Elsie LaRosa, Maxine Hayes and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call on Thursday, April 4, 2024 at Kravanya Funeral Home in Gillespie from 9:30 am until 11:00 am. Funeral services are Thursday, April 4, 2024 at 11:00 am at Kravanya Funeral Home in Gillespie. Burial will be at Benld Cemetery, Benld, IL.
