Betty Lou Thompson, age 93 of Godfrey died at 10:00 PM on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Betty was born in Muncie, Indiana on April 5, 1925 the daughter of the late Russell Miller and Frances (Shockley) Rodecap. She married Leroy V. Thompson on December 25, 1943 in Noblesville, Indiana and he preceded her in death on January 9, 1997.
Betty had a kind and gentle soul. She is dearly loved by her family who cherish the light she brought into each of our lives. She found delight in simple pleasures such as time spent with neighbors, friends, and her church. She had a compassionate spirit, a caring heart and saw goodness in everyone.
Betty was a member of the Bethalto Church of God and a devoted mother of two daughters; Teri Brigman (James) of Hartford, IL, Paula Dugan (Garrett) of Mobile, Alabama, three sons; Michael Thompson (Teofila "Fe") of Waco, TX, David Thompson (Suellen) of Shanghai China, Stephen Thompson (Laura) of Godfrey, 18 grandchildren; Nicole Norton, Jeff Brigman, Julie Brigman Jason Guerrant, Paul Guerrant, Monica Brown, Michael Loria, Brian Loria, Christina Loria, Chad Loria, Lee Michael Thompson, Michelle Kaiser, Heather Kuebler, Ben Thompson, Paul Thompson, S. Kirby Thompson, Caroline Thompson and Andrew Thompson, 33 great grandchildren and her loving companion; Donald Scott of Bethalto.
The family extends our heartfelt appreciation to hospice nurse Cindy Orschein for her assistance and guidance.
Visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 PM on Friday, December 7, 2018 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Visitation will continue on Saturday at the Bethalto Church of God from 10:00 AM until funeral at 11:00 AM with Pastor Desmond Wellington Officiating.
Burial will be at Alton Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. Louis Children's Hospital or Reach out and Read in care of Alton School District.
