Betty Lee (Brenker) Moppins, 92 of Godfrey went to be with Jesus on Sunday, December 6, 2020. Betty was born in Alton on July 28, 1928, and is the daughter of John A. Holt and Myrtle Keyser Holt. She graduated from Alton High School in 1947. She retired from Alton Mental Health Center after 30 years of service. After retiring, she served as Secretary of the AFSCME Retirees Chapter 59. She cheerfully served as a volunteer at Alton Memorial Hospital, and the Red Cross. She served as a precinct committee member for Meals on Wheels and delivered meals to those in need.
Betty is survived by daughters Sharon Glidwell of Lorton, Virginia, and Nancy (Dave) Myer of Bunker Hill, sons Alan (Pam) Brenker of St. Charles, Missouri, and Paul (Donna) of Bunker Hill, seven grandchildren Tom (Lisa) Glidwell, Angie Brenker, Josh (Sarah) Brenker, Bradley (Sheridan) Myer, Amanda (Ben) Laux, Ashley (Lex) McFarland and Tech Sergeant Ethan Brenker, and Daughter-in-law Jennifer Glidwell.
Betty had twelve great grandchildren, Sidney (Justin) Brondsema, Eric Glidwell, Faith Glidwell, Emily Glidwell, Jenna Wilkinson, Addison Brenker, Landon Brenker, Marie McFarland, Carter McFarland, Penny Sue Myer, Maddox Laux, Lena Belle Laux and step granddaughter Maizee Lambie. She had two great great granddaughters, Everly Brondsema and Aria Skye Brondsema.
Betty was preceded in death by husband, Oscar Moppins, parents John and Myrtle Holt, brother Charles, sister Virginia Johnson, son-in-law Ken Glidwell, brother-in-law Clinton Bonnell, sister-in-law Emma (Kitty) Holt, grandson Dustin Glidwell, and nephew James Holt.
Her final wishes and act of generosity, Betty donated her body to science for medical research through St. Louis University Center for Anatomical Science and Education.
Betty was a long time member of Godfrey First United Methodist Church. She loved the St. Louis Cardinals and was a lifelong fan.
Due to covid restrictions, a celebration of life service will be scheduled at a later date. Memorials will be made to Gwendolyn's Gifts c/o Alan Brenker, 4 Cardigan Court, St. Charles, MO 63303.
