Betty Jean (Simpson) Schneider, 90, passed away in her home on Tuesday, February 23, 2021, at 10:34 am.
She was born on November 26, 1930, in Louisiana, Missouri to Charles Russell and Dorothy Irene (Norvell) Simpson.
Betty married Albert Thomas Schneider in Alton on July 25, 1950. He survives.
She was a wonderful homemaker and loved cooking and gardening. Betty was known as the “Taxi-Mom” as she was the one who drove around her children as well as the kids from the neighborhood everywhere.
Betty is survived by her husband; four daughters, Linda (Mark) Murray of Godfrey, Ellen Rhoades of Wood River, Sue Schneider of Wood River, and Alinetta (Jess) Lowder of Brighton; a foster daughter, Gloria (Perry) Emerich of Wisconsin; 20 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Jill Ann; brother-in-law and his wife, Emil (Claudea) Schneider; and a grandchild, Pam Manning.
Marks Mortuary in Wood River was entrusted with the arrangements.
