Betty J. Sherman, 82, passed away 1:55 a.m., Monday, October 10, 2016 at her residence.
Born in East Alton on June 29, 1934, she was the daughter of Clarence and Anna (Maxfield) Wilson.
She worked as a clerk at Thrifty Drug and was a secretary for Teamsters Local #525 in Alton before retiring.
On August 16, 1952 in East Alton, she married Kenneth Sherman. He died February 13, 1999.
Surviving are a son, Mike (Pam) Sherman of East Alton; two daughters, Debbie (Norman) Bohnenstiehl and Shelly Tongay all of Bethalto; six grandchildren, Kelly and Kory Bohnenstiehl, Sarah Goodman, Natalie Sherman, Zachary and Emily Tongay; five great grandchidren, Olivia and julia Goodman, Karissa, Kinley and Calder Bohnenstiehl.
Her parents; husband; and a sister, Lucille Jones preceded in death.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at First Assembly of God Church in East Alton, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday. Pastor Timothy Keller will officiate.
Burial will follow in Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.
