Betty Decker, 88, passed away at 4:00 pm on Sunday, July 31, 2016 at Rosewood Care Center in Alton, IL.
She was born on August 3, 1927 in Centralia, the daughter of Henry C. and Edna (Hase) Haney.
Betty married John "Jack" Decker on August 21, 1954 in Alton. He preceded her in death on November 14, 1982.
She was a homemaker after marriage and wonderful mother to their five children. She was especially proud of her nine grandchildren and one great grandchild all who loved her dearly and will miss her greatly. She also loved playing bridge with her lady friends and reading mystery novels.
Betty is survived by five children and their spouses, John (Sonya) Decker of Brighton, IL, Jacqueline "Jackie" (Jim) Bovinette of Ames, IA, Steve Decker of Wood River, IL, David (Stacy) Decker of Edwardsville, and Annette (Scott) Harder of Midland, NC; nine grandchildren, Jacob and Christopher (his fiancée Millie Doran) Decker, Renee (her fiancée Justin Machnik) and Alyssa Bovinette, Katelyn and David Decker, Emily, Elizabeth, and Ellen Harder; one great grandchild, Azlynn Beadles; one sister, Sharyn Haney and good friend Christine MacDonald of Springfield, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother H.C. Haney, Jr. and stepmother Lillian Haney.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am until time of funeral at 1:00 pm Monday August 8, 2016 at Staten-Fine Funeral Home in Alton.
Burial will follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Godfrey.
Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association or American Heart Association.
