Betty Baker

Betty Baker, 71, passed away at 4:40 pm on Monday, October 10, 2016, at Christian Northeast Hospital.She was born September 15, 1945, in Wood River, the daughter of Kenneth and Gladys (Abrom) Meisenheimer.Betty worked for Alton Mental Health Center as an administrative assistant for 30 years before retiring in 2010. She was a member of the Catholic faith. She loved dogs, especially her dog, Lilly. While she worked at Alton Mental Health, she played on a volleyball team.Survivors include one son, Barry Baker of O’Fallon, Missouri; one daughter and her husband, Sherri and Kevin Downey of San Antonio, Texas; one grandson, Matthew Baker; one brother and his wife, Larry and Marilyn Meisenheimer of Bethalto; and two aunts and their spouses, Marlene and Mickey Barach, and Rose Marie and Glen Bickmore, all of Bethalto.She was preceded in death by her parents and one grandson, Luke Baker.Visitation will be from 4:30 pm until time of service at 6:30 pm on Friday, October 14 at Elias, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral home in Bethalto.Memorials may be given to Shriner’s Children’s Hopital.Online condolences and guest book may be found at www.eliaskallalandschaaf.com
