Beth Kindle, 87, of Granite City, Illinois, passed away peacefully at 11:52 p.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.
She was born on February 4, 1938, in Gary, Indiana, the daughter of the late Rick and Charlene (Barham) Wilburn. Beth married the love of her life, Phillip N. Kindle, on June 21, 1980, at their home in Granite City. He preceded her in death on August 21, 2023.
Beth retired in 2001 after 25 years of dedicated service in the business office at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Granite City. She was a faithful member of Unity Baptist Church and lived her life with unwavering devotion to Jesus Christ. Her love for music was evident through her years of singing with the Master’s Voice Choir. She also enjoyed reading, gardening, and maintaining her pristine yard.
She gave generously of her time, volunteering for many years with the Brown Rec Pre-school. Beth also took great joy in collecting quilts and Raggedy Ann dolls.
She is survived by her son, Ron (Phuong) Ward of Vietnam; four grandchildren, Melanie Ward of Alton, and Nathaniel “Nat” Ward, Benjamin Ward, and Thomas Ward, all of Vietnam; and four great-grandchildren, Evan Christy, Isabel Christy, Summer Slaton, and Penelope Slaton, all of Alton. She is also survived by her sister, Dianne (Tim Breslin) Killion of Chicago; sister-in-law, Leah Ray Higgins of Gary, Indiana; as well as extended family and many dear friends.
In addition to her beloved husband and parents, Beth was preceded in death by a son, Scott Ward, and her brother, David Wilburn.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road, Granite City, on Friday, August 1, 2025, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. and funeral service at 12:00 noon, officiated by Pastor Jarad Corzine. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.
Memorial donations may be made to the Granite City Park District to support the Brown Rec Pre-school.
