Bertha A. Brown, 97, passed away at 6:14 pm Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at her daughter’s home surrounded by her family. She was born September 28, 1917 in Alton, Illinois, the daughter of Thomas D. and Myrtle L. (Jones) Hudelson.
She married Gerald F. Brown June 23, 1934 who preceded her in death January 1982. She was also preceded in death by her parents, seven sisters, two brothers, and one grandson Michael Brown.
Bertha was a member of Main Street Methodist Church in Alton. She enjoyed her grandchildren, bingo, and reading her Bible daily.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Janie and Bill LeMay of Woodbury, MN; a son and daughter-in-law, Albert and Sherry Brown of Advance, MO; six of seven grandchildren, Sara Ann Garvey Nesse (Brian), Amy Elizabeth-Garvey Wasik (Michael), Jerry Brown, Stacie Gills (Tom), Leslie Lasswell, Mindie Noah (Glen); eleven great grandchildren; three great, great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 9:30 am until 11:00 am Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Staten Fine Funeral Home in Alton.
Burial will be private at Upper Alton Cemetery following visitation.
Memorials may be made to the City Lights Foundation of Morgan Hill, CA.
