Bernice Irene (Murphy) Miller, 90, passed peacefully on Saturday, December 5, 2020 at Heritage Health of Staunton, IL.

She was born November 1, 1930 in Peoria, IL to Harry and Naomi Murphy.

She spent her formative years in Farmington, IL and was preceded in death by her parent and four brothers, Bob, Larry, Jim and Ted.

She is survived by her three sons, David (Ellen) Miller of Jacksonville, Clifton (Henrietta) Miller of Mount Olive, and Brian (Donna) Miller of Marion, Iowa.

In addition, her sister, Marguerite Vavrosky is now deceased since Bernice's passing.

She leaves behind 9 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, who will all cherish her memory.

One of her proudest moments was to graduate from dental college in 1980.  Later she moved to Florida where she managed a gift shop at a Days Inn near Disney World.  Visiting Disney World with grandchildren in tow and going to the beach where she could share her love of swimming with the family were some of her happiest times.

She cherished her daughters in law as if they were her own daughters.  She doted on her grandchildren, and adored each great grandchild and each great great grandchild in turn.  After retiring from Days Inn, she moved to Gillespie to be near family.  Known by her friends as "Bernie," her interests centered on home and family.  She loved cooking, especially baking, and enjoyed her flower gardening immensely.

As a devoted Christian and a member of the First Christian Church in Gillespie, IL.  She loved singing in the church choir, volunteering at the church when possible and attending Sunday services.  In particular she loved Christmas and all its trappings.

Visitation will be held on July 10, 2021 from 10:30 am until the time of service at the First Christian Church, Gillespie, IL.  Memorial services will be on July 10, 2021 at 11:30 am at the First Christian Church, Gillespie, IL with Arthur Roemer officiating.  A  luncheon will be held at the church following the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Bernice's name may be sent to Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research or the First Christian Church in Gillespie, IL.

The Miller Family wishes to thank the Heritage Health in Staunton, IL for the loving care she received during her stay there.
