Bernard Michael "Bernie" Brennan, age 63 died Saturday, June 27, 2009 at St. Anthony's Health Center in Alton.
He was born February 8, 1946 in Chicago the son of the late Thomas A. Brennan and Agnes Brennan Phillips.
Bernie was in the hardware business for many years working at Central Hardware in Alton until they closed and retiring from the Handyman Hardware Store in Florissant, Mo. He was U.S. Navy veteran and member of the Alton Eagles Lodge #254 in Alton. He is survived by two daughters and a son in law; Theresa Brennan of O'Fallon, MO, Rebecca Dial (Chris) of O'Fallon, Mo, one granddaughter; Riley Dial, two brothers; Thomas A. Brennan Jr. (Sue) of Alton, Patrick Brennan (Kathleen) of Chesterfield, MO, two sisters; Colleen Drew (Dennis) of Rosewood Heights, Shelia M. Ventimiglia of Godfrey and his companion Sandy Vail of Alton and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister; Margaret Ramirez Hesh.
Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 pm on Tuesday at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 11:00 am Wednesday.
Burial will follow at the Upper Alton Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the American Lung Association.
