Bernard "Bernie" A. Laux, 68, of Cottage Hills, passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025.
He was born in Alton, IL, on March 10, 1957, the son of the late Don and the late Millie (Comte) Laux. Bernie married Theresa A. Baine in Edwardsville on April 16, 1999, and she survives.
Bernie is a United States Navy Veteran. He served outside of Baghdad during Desert Storm. He served for 20 years as a boiler technician, retiring in 1996, then worked at Alton Memorial Hospital as a boiler technician for another 26 years, until his retirement from there in 2022. He was a member of the Wood River Moose Lodge and VFW Post in Cottage Hills. He enjoyed mowing his yard with his John Deere tractor, fishing, playing guitar, and was an avid fan of the Beatles. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren.
Along with his wife, Theresa, he is survived by his children, Randi, Christopher, Jennifer, Dawn, Kaliegh, and Lucas; great-grandchildren, Zach and Dylan; and his siblings, Don (Jamie) Laux, Bob (Lesa) Laux, Gerry (Earl) Falast, Rick (Shelly) Laux, and Terri (David) Callahan.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 18, 2025, from 10 am until time of service at 12 pm, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Pastor Kevin Auten will officiate. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens.
