Bernadine Ann Petro, 75, of Granite City, Illinois, passed away at 3:05 p.m. on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville.

She was born November 30, 1950, in Granite City, Illinois. Bernadine dedicated many years of service as a human resource assistant with Western Lithotech in St. Louis. She later continued her career with the Parkway School District, where she worked as a bus aide until her retirement in 2016.

Bernadine had a deep love for animals and cherished the companionship of her cats and dogs throughout the years. She also enjoyed creating ceramics and found great joy in her hobbies. Above all, she will be remembered for the love she shared and the special moments she created with her family and friends.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Keri-Gae and Dana Travis of Pontoon Beach; two grandchildren, Allian and Jacob Travis; as well as many extended family members and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother and stepfather, Arlene and Carl Kohuth; her father, Sylvester Illies; and two brothers, Bruce Illies and Michael Kohuth.

In celebration of her life, a visitation will be held at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City, on Thursday, April 9, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until the time of a memorial service at 7:00 p.m.
