Benny Ray Bedwell, Jr., “Uncle Bum” to his family, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2026.
Born March 5, 1979 in Alton, he was the son of Benny R. Bedwell, Sr. and “Dee” (Zigler) Bedwell.
Benny was an avid pool player and also loved to play darts, poker and golf. In the barbecue world, he was known as a grillmaster. He enjoyed baseball, football (especially the 49ers), and riding motorcycles. He fiercely loved his children, and was a beloved father, husband, son, brother, uncle, great uncle, and friend.
He is survived by his wife, Jordan (Eagleton) Bedwell of Carlinville; his children, Charolette, Paisley, Rayleigh, Oliver, and Finley; his mother Dee Bedwell of East Alton; sisters Melessa (Brad) Herzberg of Rosewood Heights, Delana Bedwell of Godfrey, and Devon (Leo) Pride of Rosewood Heights; brothers, Leo Gene Bedwell, Noah Alexander Bedwell, and Joshua David Bender; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Benny Bedwell, Sr., a nephew Brayden Myles Pride; and his mother-in-law, Suzy Eagleton.
Visitation will be held 4-7 p.m. Monday, March 16 at Paynic Home for Funerals.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family to assist with expenses.
