Barbara Varela

Barbara G. Varela, 85, of La Salle, IL, died at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, IL on Wednesday, December 31, 2025. She was born January 20, 1940, in Mt Olive, IL to William Gordon & Hazel Rull.

She was a transcript, hotel house keeper, Casey's cook, Sears auto paper filer, retail clerk and worked for Olan Mills Photography. Barbara enjoyed reading, painting, crocheting and cooking.  

She is survived by her spouse, Manuel "Manny" Varela of LaSalle, IL, daughter, Rhonda Williams, granddaughters, Amber Burgess, Gigi Wood, Molly Williams, Brandy Coppejans, grandsons, Dante Gorsich, Tyler Williams, Dave Gorsich, Simon Gorsich, Sam Gorsich, great-granddaughters, Myleigh Bendavidez, Olivia Gorsich, Alexis Williams, Abby Rakowski, JenaLee Ohda, great-grandsons, Apollo Williams, Kayden Gorsich, Dustin Gorsich, Doug Harper, Vincent Wood, Dylan Harper, Joey Rakowski, Trevor Williams, Devon Gorsich, Mason Benavidez, great great-granddaughters, Leah Rakowski, Brooklyn Farnsworth, Baylor Farnsworth, Brooklynn Gorsich, great great-grandsons, Levi Rakoski, Grant Harper, Elias Berryman.

Barbara was preceded in death by her father, William Gordon, mother and step father, Hazel and Clarence Rull, son, Mike Gorsich, daughter, Julie Gorsich and granddaughter, Michelle Gorsich.

Visitation will be on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at Kravanya Funeral Home in Bunker Hill from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm. Funeral services are Thursday, January 8, 2026 at 12:00 pm at Kravanya Funeral Home in Bunker Hill, IL. Burial will be at Woodburn Cemetery, Woodburn, IL.
