Barbara Mae Wock, 90, died at 11:36 a.m., Thursday, January 16, 2020 at Jerseyville Manor Nursing Home with her family surrounding her with the love she so richly deserved.She was born in Casey, Illinois on May 11, 1929, the daughter of Suitt and Esther Rozetta (Hock) Miller.She was lovingly raised by her mother and "father in life", Esther and Lennie "Dutch" Lamb, attended Roxana High School for her first three years, before graduating from Jersey Township High School inJerseyville in 1947.She married Jack Wock on October 8, 1949 in Pocahontas, Arkansas, and together they shared 70 years of marriage would include a family of eight children, and many happy and blessed years, along with a few heartaches along the way. No matter the circumstances, Jack and Barb made certain that their family stayed strong based on deep love, hard work.Barb passed way quietly, knowing that their family bond remained strong and intact.In her younger years, Barb worked at Baughmann Manufacturing in Jerseyville, but after her marriage to Jack, she remained at home caring for children and their home, along with assisting on the family farm in any way necessary. Even though she had eight children of her own to love, she still had plenty left to be a "Mom" to many others, making sure that anyone felt comfortable and welcome and knowing that they always had more room at the table for everyone.When her children were young, she volunteered her time at St. Francis Xavier Catholic School in Jerseyville, as well as the Jersey County 4-H. Later in life, she volunteered in the Jersey Community Hospital Gift Shop, and willingly drove patients to their treatments for the American Cancer Society. In addition, she was a lifetime member of the Jersey County Home Extension, McClusky unit.Surviving are her husband, Jack Wock of Jerseyville; seven children and their spouses, Michael and Mary Margaret Wock of Heyworth, Il., Robert and Kathy Wock of Jerseyville, Sue and Mark Cutright of St. Peters, Mo., Rosemary Branham, Paul and Julie Wock, Judy and Jim Nanney, and Steve and StaceyWock all of Jerseyville; a daughter in-law, Rosemary Wock of Jerseyville; 23 Grandchildren; 37 Great Grandchildren; 7 Great Great Grandchildren; two brothers and sisters in-law, Joe and Margaret Lamb of Jerseyville and Frank and Janet Lamb of Edwardsville; a brother in-law and his wife, Jack and EvelynFessler of Godfrey; two nieces and three nephews.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, David Wock on Aug. 17, 2017; a granddaughter, Gretchen Wock on Sept. 15, 2018; three sisters in law and two brothers in law, LoisFessler, Maxine "Mickie" and Russell Prill and Mary Helen and Dean Conrad.Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Wednesday until time of funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Jerseyville, where she has been a longtime and faithful member. Father Martin Smith will officiate.She will be laid to rest in the St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Jerseyville.Memorials may be given to the St. Francis/Holy Ghost Catholic Schools in Jerseyville or to the Jersey County 4-H Foundation.Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville is in charge of the arrangements.Memories may be shared at crawfordfunerals.com.
