Barbara Kahl

Mrs. Barbara J. Kahl, 95, longtime resident of Greenfield, Illinois, passed away on Friday, March 20, 2026 at The Grove Nursing Home in Jacksonville Il.

Barbara was born on June 27, 1930 in Schram City, Il. She was the daughter of Clifford Glen and Edna Elizabeth (Wall) Harshbarger, who preceded her in death. She was the oldest of six children.

Barbara married Arthur Edward Kahl on April 1, 1950. He proceeded her in death on January 5, 2004. A daughter, Laura Mauk and son-in-law Michael Mauk also preceded her in death as well as two brothers, Lanstan Robinson and Clifford Robinson one sister, Loretta Eaton, and brother-in-law Robert Mack.

She is survived by her children Mary McCarn of Champaign, IL, Maggie Auterman of Ridge Farm, Il and Edward (Joan) Kahl of Wentzville, MO, and by a sister, Catherine Mack of El Paso, TX and a brother, Richard Robinson of Germany.

She leaves behind six grandchildren, Lori Mauk, Camille (Frank) Figueroa, Sara Carey, Erin (Adam) Richardson, Joshua (Danyale) Auterman, and Corey (Lauren) McCarn, and great grandchildren Sophia Shipman, Harper Auterman, Ian and Liam and Mason Fletcher, and Elizabeth McCarn along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Barbara was a member of the Charity Baptist Church and enjoyed reading, cooking, singing, sewing and she was a member of the Greenfield Clatter Band. She enjoyed her friends and was a strong supporter of the community.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Charity Baptist Church and can be mailed to the Shields-Bishop Funeral Home, 604 Walnut St., Greenfield, IL. 62044.

Services will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026 at 12:00 Noon with family meeting friends at 10:00 AM until time of service at the Charity Baptist Church in Greenfield.
