Barbara "Joan" Carter was born on August 23, 1935 in Golden Gate, IL. She passed away unexpectedly, November 8, 2018 in Barnes-Jewish Hospital.
She was preceded in death by by her sisters, Valetta Hill, Mary Isle, Bonnie Aldridge; brothers, Ray and Dean Chalcraft; and a son, Randy Carter.
She was known to family and friends as the sweetest soul. She was a wonderful wife to Alvin Carter for 64 years, who survives.
Her sisters, Vera Ellis and Veronda Rogers survive and she also leaves behind a son, Jessie Carter and a daughter-in-law, Tina Carter Akers; grandson, Geoff Carter; granddaughters, Laura Carter, Sarah Marcrum and Heather Dorris; and great granddaughter, Avery Dorris
She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
Visitation will be from 9am until time of service at 10:30 am Tuesday at marks Mortuary in Wood River, Rev. Dave Burger will officiate.
Burial will follow in Woodland Hill Cemetery.
Community Christian Church has been named a memorial.
