Barbara Jane Wedding, 87, died at 11:44 p.m. Sunday, April 30, 2017 at Jerseyville Manor in Jerseyville. Born March 2, 1930 in Alton, she was the daughter of William C. and Barbara E. (Handler) Norman. Mrs. Wedding was a member of Elm Street Presbyterian Church. She collected seashells, loved spending time with her grandkids, enjoyed walking the River Road, sewing and reading. She sang at many weddings, funerals and churches. On May 15, 1948 she married Phillip Wedding. He preceded her in death on November 4, 2014. Surviving is a daughter, Zoe Ann (Mark) Clyde of Jerseyville, four sons, Steve (Jan) Wedding of Godfrey, Collie (Debbie) Wedding of Godfrey, Ted (Karen) Wedding of Alton, and Adam (Angel) Wedding of Yellow Springs, OH. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and a brother, Anthony (Carol) Norman of Godfrey. Along with her parents and husband she was preceded in death by three brothers, Billy, Ted, and Sam Norman, and two sisters, Johanna Miller and Dorothy Noble. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until time of funeral service at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, May 4, 2017 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Pastor Steven Helfrich will officiate.
