Awanda June (Flatt) Marth, 82, passed away at 11:33 am Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
She was born on January 4, 1933 in Eldred, IL, the daughter of Lester Calvin and Elsie (Savage) Flatt.
She married Theodore Henry Marth Jr. on October 6, 1951 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Alton, IL. He preceded her in death on November 8, 2009.
Awanda was a secretary at Zion Lutheran Church in Bethalto for 17 years, retiring in 1994. She was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Bethalto Senior Citizens.
She was loved and will be greatly missed by two daughters and sons-in-law, Janet & Paul Wicker of Steeleville, IL and Julie & David Zeiger of Fults, IL; a son and daughter-in-law, David & Susan Marth of Moro; five grandchildren, Ben and his wife, Jennifer Ashby, Sam Ashby, and Chloe, Blake & Clare Marth; one great granddaughter, Hadleigh; two nieces, Patty Watkins Murphy of Nashville, TN and Pam & Michael Myrick of Longview, TX; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Noble and Dolores Watkins of Longview, TX and numerous cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm on Friday, October 23, 2015 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Saturday, October 24, 2015 at Zion Lutheran Church in Bethalto with Pastor Kale Hanson officiating.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran School Tuition Fund or Charity of One’s Choice.
