August Jay “Jaybird” Sansone Sr., 64, died at 3:21 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at his home with his family by his side. Born August 3, 1947 in Alton, he was the son of August James and Evelyn Elouise (Fettinger) Sansone. He owned and operated the Pub Room in Alton for 33 years. He also owned the Cellar Room in Alton and The Delhi Country Inn. He was a member of the Labors Local 218 for over 20 years and a member of the Salty Dogs Motorcycle Club. Surviving are two daughters, Toni Altier (Steve) of Valrico, FL, and Khristie Jacquin (Keith) of East Alton, a son, August Jay Sansone Jr., of Brighton, five granddaughters, Ashley, Brianna, Kaylin, Courtnee, and Jayden, one brother, James Sansone of St. Louis, MO, and his best friend, Sherrie Millsap of East Alton. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, March 30, 2012 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Funeral services and burial will be private.
