Audrey “Maxine” Cloninger, 84, passed away on Sunday, March 4 , 2018, at 6:07 pm, at her residence.
She was born November 8, 1933, in East Alton, IL, the daughter of Aubrey V. and Anna J. Andrews, both preceded her in death. Maxine married Charles “Glen” Cloninger on September 2, 1951, they later divorced and he preceded her in death in 1990.
Maxine was employed as a Header Operator in Empty Shell Department for Olin Winchester for 29 years, before retiring in February of 1997. She was a member of Cottage Hills Baptist Church and played the piano there for 52 years. Maxine enjoyed spending time with family, her church family and her friends. She especially enjoyed game nights with her family and Domino games.
She is survived by 3 daughters, Sherlyn Becker of Bethalto, Karen Seets of Wood River and Lisa (Rick) Reiske of Alton; 2 sisters, Pat (Larry) Lippi and Susan (Benny) Bitter; 1 brother, John Andrews; 9 grandchildren, Terina (Tim) Coffey, Jacey Crawford, Kelli Crawford, Amy (Ray) Khuhro, Michael (Dana) Redman, Jennifer (Nathan) Vandygriff, Grant Becker, Aaron Reiske (Melinda Ponce) and Kristin (Philip) Tate; and 19 great grandchildren.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Michael Cloninger and a sister, Wilma Bickmore.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 7, 2018 from 10 am until time of funeral services at 1 pm at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Pastor Clyde Myers and Pastor James McElyea will be officiating. Burial will be at Bethalto United Methodist Cemetery in Bethalto. Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto is in charge of arrangements.
