Arthur Ross Shaw, passed away October 21, 2018 at the age of 93.
He was born on February 11, 1925 in Eldred, IL to the late Crit and Minnie (Rathgeber) Shaw. He graduated high school from Greenfield High School in Greenfield, IL. He married Bettie L Kennedy on November 28, 1948 in Alton, IL. She passed away on April 18, 2005.
Arthur retired from Ruan Transport with over one million miles with no accidents and was a member of Teamsters Local 525. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge of Wood River. Arthur loved racing boats and won many trophy’s over the years. He was forty-year member of Faith Baptist Church in Godfrey, IL.
He is survived by two sons James and his wife Patricia of Jerseyville, IL and Kenneth and his wife Sheila of Alton, IL, five grandchildren and several great grandchildren, one sister, Meda Miller of Bethalto, two nephews, Darrel Strahan and Herb McCartney and special friend Alfred Russell.
He was preceded in death by his wife and parents, three sisters, Freda McCartney, Ada Weller and Mary Kloess and two brothers, Luther Shaw and Laurence Shaw.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 25, 2018. Reverend Robert Taylor Officiating.
Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
