Arthur Lippoldt

Dr. Arthur "Art" "Lin" F. Lippoldt, DVM, 85, passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at 9:54 pm in Hamel, IL surrounded by his loved ones.

He was born on February 6, 1938 in Alton, Illinois to Arthur J. and Anna L. Lippoldt (nee McCutcheon).

Art graduated from Roxana High School in 1956. From there, he went on to earn his Bachelor's Degree from SIUC and graduated with his Doctorate from U of I School of Veterinary Medicine in 1965.

Art married Linda Malone on September 3, 1984 at Gordon Moore Park. She survives.

He co-owned and operated Hawthorne Animal Hospital for 38 years. He took pride in his community, and was a member of the Community Advisory Panel for ConocoPhillips, was involved in the Board of Advisory of the American Land Conservancy Middle Mississippi River Program, was a lifetime member of the Illinois State Veterinary Medical Association, and a State Chairman, Local Chapter President, and lifetime member of Ducks Unlimited.

Art had a love of the outdoors and was an avid hunter. He especially enjoyed hunting migratory water fowl. Most of all, he loved spending time with his friends and family.

In addition to his wife, Art is survived by his four children, Kathy (Detlef) Ball of Edwardsville, Becky (David) Steinmann of Hamel, Aaron (Michelle) Lippoldt of Worden, and Matt Lippoldt and his girlfriend, Jennifer Tolle, of Worden; a son-in-law, Keith Biver of Worden; a sister, Iris (John) Uzzell of East Alton; ten grandchildren, Logan and Molly Ball, Samantha and Lizzy Steinmann, Nicholas, Wyatt, and Sadie Lippoldt, Chelsey and Kayla Lippoldt, and Allison Biver; and one great-grandson, Noah.

Art was preceded in death by his parents; a step-daughter, Melony Patton Biver; his mother-in-law, Mary Malone; and a sister-in-law, Connie Pollard.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 17, 2023 from 2 pm to 6 pm at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.

Service will be held on Monday, December 18, 2023 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto at 10 am. A dear friend, Jim Shanks, will officiate.

Burial will take place immediately following services at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens. 

Memorials are suggested to the Hawthorne Animal Hospital Angel Fund and to the Parkinson's Foundation.
