Arnold R. Sanders, 83, passed away peacefully at his home with his wife at his side at 6:02 a.m. Saturday, September 29, 2018.
Arnold “Arnie” was born in Venice, IL on February 21, 1935 the son of Raymond and Emma Louise (Madison) Sanders. Arnold was a passionate sportsman who loved hunting, fishing and playing golf. He worked as an electrician at Laclede Steel until he retired in 1992 and was a member of Godfrey First United Methodist church.
On June 4, 1955 he married Marion Jo Boren in Alton. She survives.
In addition to his wife he is survived by an aunt, Alma Shultz of Orlando, FL, four children, Mickey Young (Richard) of Alton, Kim Sanders of Branson, MO, Greg Sanders (Sandy) of Peoria and Scott Sanders (Debbie) of Alton. Five grandchildren, Dustin Sanders (Ayesha) of San Jose, CA, Marion Hamilton (Erik) of St. Peters, MO, Sarah Schaeffer (Brandon) of Springfield, MO, Ashley Morris (Chris) of Medford, OR and Jeremey Sanders of Alton. Arnold also has 6 great grandchildren and several step grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Jerry Trout and a grandson, Christopher Hanson.
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Reverend Steven Friese will officiate. Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.
Memorials may be made to the 5A’s Animal Shelter or the Godfrey First United Methodist Church.
