Arlou Lucille Waller, 91, passed away at 7:55 a.m. Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at Alton Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Mrs. Waller was born on July 8, 1922 in Hamilton County, IL.
She was the third of four children and the only daughter born to Palmer and Ethel (Lewis) Brown. She married Lee Roy Gill on October 9, 1943. To this union was born her only child, a daughter, Joan Ellen Gill on October 24, 1946. Arlou later married the love of her life, Ira Waller on January 29, 1976. He passed away on November 11, 1983. Arlou retired as a social worker from the State Hospital.
She leaves behind to grieve her passing her daughter, Dr. Joan Lovell, her grandson, Frank (Laura) Lovell and her four great grandchildren, Chasen, Cassidy, Coby and Riley all living in California. She will also be greatly missed by many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her three brothers, Freeman, Charles and Fred Brown and her two husbands.
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. A repast will be served at 12:00 noon at the VFW Post 1308 in Alton.
Following lunch, interment will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO.
Per Arlou’s wishes, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the VFW Post 1308.
