Anthony "Tony" Gutierrez, 78, transitioned to spirit on October 13th, 2023 at 9:47 p.m. at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in O'Fallon, IL.
He was born on October 28, 1944, in St. John, Kansas to Rufus Gutierrez and Frances (Mendez) Gutierrez.
He married Vicky (Malson) Gutierrez. She preceded him in death on September 24, 2015
Tony worked as a cook in the restaurant industry for many years. He will be remembered as a masterful storyteller who enjoyed country music, spaghetti westerns, and whiskey.
Tony is survived by his brother, Joe Gutierrez; sisters, Frances Dean, Sally Matyear, Stella Leon, and Paula Gutierrez; as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, Tony is preceded in death by seven brothers, Bart Juarigui, John Gutierrez, Dr. Melchor Gutierrez, Jesse Gutierrez, Paul Gutierrez, Rufus Gutierrez, and Christopher Gutierrez, who sacrificed his life in Vietnam; and a sister, Elsie Gutierrez.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2023, from 1 p.m. until time of services at 3 p.m. at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey, Illinois.
Memorials are suggested to the funeral home to help with expenses.
