Ann Desmond, nee Rappa, 96, of Belleville, IL, born January 16, 1929, in Marlboro, New York, passed away Saturday, August 30, 2025, at her residence.
Ann grew up on a farm in Marlborough, NY. She enjoyed bowling and playing card games like Pinochle, 5-Crowns, and Rummy. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan, she also enjoyed games shows and old-time movies. Ann was adventurous and liked travelling, especially to Europe. She was an excellent cook and above all loved spending time with her family.
Ann was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Retired USAF CMSgt. Leo G. Desmond, whom she married on March 16, 1969, and who died on September 5, 2019; her first husband Anthony V. Torelli, who died on January 31, 1966; her parents, Peter and Mary, nee Costa, Rappa; and her four brothers, Peter (Adriane) Rappa, Anthony (Grace) Rappa, Frank Rappa, and Joseph (Judy) Rappa.
Surviving are her four sons, Anthony J. (Gail) Torelli of Ohio, Stephen J. (Loredana) Torelli of New York, Joseph A. Torelli of Wisconsin; and Leo D. Jr. (Patricia) Desmond of Florida; six grandchildren, Andrew, Amber, & Gina Melissa, Elizabeth, Matthew; eight great-grandchildren, Anna, Luca, Vittoria, John, Liam, Emily, Ella, and Shawn; and many dear nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank HSHS Hospice for the care given to Ann.

Funeral: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, September 8, 2025, at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Belleville, IL, with Msgr. Jack McEvilly officiating.
Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO. A funeral procession will leave from George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, at 10 a.m.
