Andy Grawitch
Fairview Heights | Save
Andrew “Andy” T. Grawitch, 68, of Fairview Heights, IL passed away suddenly on May 19, 2026, at Ascension Providence Hospital in Waco, Texas.
Andy was an incredibly smart and talented individual. From his early career days as an ambulance EMT/Paramedic, his strong desire to help others led him to assist in the development of the paramedic program in St. Clair County, IL becoming one of the first instructors in the program. After obtaining his RN license, he spent 25+ years as an ER nurse at Belleville Memorial Hospital. He was the go-to-guy for your questions and was always someone that could be relied upon. He was a jack of all trades, able to do whatever he set his mind to. Andy was especially talented in carpentry, having built decks by scratch at past houses he had owned.
In his free time, Andy had plenty to keep him busy. He enjoyed long days at Carlyle Lake on his pontoon boat and fishing. At home, he listened to a lot of music. He owned dozens and dozens of vinyl records and would sit in the living room and listen to music on his standing record player for hours. Some of his favorite artists being Elvis Presley, The Beach Boys, and Jim Croce. Not only did Andy love music, he was a big fan of TV. Some of his favorite actors being Chuck Norris, John Wayne, and Jason Segel. He loved John Wayne so much that his son was named after one of the movie characters: Jacob McCandles from “Big Jake”. To top it all off, Andy was a die-hard fan of the Green Bay Packers football team. So much so he had an entire room decorated with merchandise of the NFL team, aptly titled “The Football Room”.
Andy is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph T. and Eileen M. Grawitch (nee Spiess); 3 siblings, Christopher Grawitch, Katherine Bugg (nee Grawitch) and Joseph Grawitch, Jr.
Andy is survived by his two children, Alexandria Grawitch and Jacob Grawitch; seven siblings, Donna Humphreys (nee Grawitch), Bill Grawitch, John Grawitch, Mike Grawitch, Pat Grawitch, Vickie Grawitch, Matt Grawitch; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.
In accordance to Andy’s wishes, cremation will take place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
