Amanda Beth O’Bear, 47, of Caseyville and formerly of Collinsville, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, with her loving family by her side.
She was born November 14, 1978, in El Paso, Texas, a daughter of John Peter Petras of Breese and the late Roberta Anne “Robbie” (Ebrecht) Petras. Amanda married the love of her life, Paul W. O’Bear, on July 22, 2000, in Granite City, Illinois, and he survives.
Amanda was a devoted and loving wife, a proud and caring mother, a cherished grandmother, and a dear sister and daughter. She deeply treasured the time she spent with her family and friends and created lasting memories with those she loved. Known for her vibrant personality, Amanda was truly a social butterfly who never met a stranger. She was always ready to lend a helping hand and had a genuine compassion for others.
She had a special love for animals and found great joy in caring for them. Amanda lived life with energy and enthusiasm, always on the go, and enjoyed shopping and crocheting in her free time.
Amanda dedicated several years as the bar manager at the Madison County Fireman’s Hall, where she formed many lasting friendships. She also volunteered with the State Park Fire Department and previously worked as a medical assistant. She was a proud Majority Member of Job’s Daughters and had the honor of serving as a Past Honored Queen.
In addition to her beloved husband and father, she is survived by her four children, Dale (Sharon) O’Bear of Sparta, Mackenzie O’Bear of Caseyville, Matthew O’Bear of Caseyville, and Laney Troy of East Alton; her four cherished grandchildren, Tobias, Melody, William, and Autumn; three loving sisters, DeAnne (Mike Sommers) Weathers of Breese, Michelle (Scott) Hillman of Granite City, and Melissa (Stephen) Boschenreither of Belleville; one brother, Jason (Lori) Petras of Granite City; many nieces and nephews; and other extended family members and dear friends.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Robert and Elizabeth “Betty” Ebrecht.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be held at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City, on Monday, March 23, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until the time of funeral service at 7:00 p.m.
