Alicia Hendricks
Wood River | Save
Alicia Rae Hendricks, 81, passed away on November 15, 2025, at Jerseyville Manor.
Born August 25, 1944, in Wood River, she was the daughter of the late William and Carol (Rieke) Roe. She graduated from Millikin University’s nursing program in 1966, and she would say to many that she worked “everywhere; too many places to count.”
Alicia married Russell Hendricks on September 13, 1968 and they were blessed with 53 years of marriage until his death on April 17, 2022.
Alicia was an avid STL Cardinals fan. She was blessed in her years at Jerseyville Manor to have a roommate who also loved the STL Cardinals. They watched every game they could and would talk about the game as it played. The family appreciates all the staff at Jerseyville Manor for their gentle care of Alicia. She always remarked how well she was treated there and she called them her friends.
She was appreciated by many for her cheerful smile and her easy-going nature. She enjoyed reading books, playing Bingo, watching Christian Services on TV, and following the lives of her grandchildren. She was so very proud of them.
Alicia is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Russell, and her brother-in-law, Wayne Knox.
Alicia is survived by her sister, Beverly Knox of San Antonio, Texas; a son, David Hendricks of Alton; a daughter, Mary Phillips (Jay) of Godfrey; and two grandchildren, Lucy Huffman (Bo) and Riley Phillips.
A private burial of her ashes and her husband’s ashes will be held at a later date at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. No visitation is scheduled.
Gent Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Additional information and online guestbook may be found at gentfuneralhome.com.
