Alice C. Twenhoefel, nee Meirink, 93, of Belleville, IL, born July 17, 1932, in Belleville, IL, died Monday, October 6, 2025, at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, O’Fallon, IL.

Alice was a graduate of Notre Dame High School and later worked as a secretary for Belleville Township High School East. Alice, a woman of deep faith, was a former member of Union United Methodist Church and a lifelong member of St. Peter’s Cathedral Catholic Church, Belleville, IL. She was also a member of the Cathedral breakfast and bereavement team. Alice was an avid reader and piano player. She loved dogs, enjoyed watching birds, flowers, solving puzzles, baking, and taking naps. Above all, she was a wonderful mother and grandmother that loved spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 years, William C. Twenhoefel, whom she married on November 26, 1958, and who died on January 25, 2006; and her parents, Henry and Mary, nee Wirsching, Meirink. Alice was the youngest of all her siblings and was preceded by Walter, Dorothy in childhood, Maurice, Robert, Joseph, Alfred, Arthur, Sr. Dorothy, Mary Jane and Betty.

Surviving are her daughter, Barbara A. Bennett of Kansas City, MO; her son, William T. (Laura) Twenhoefel of Freeburg, IL; four grandchildren, Katelyn (Steve Strano) Bennett and Laura (Zachary) Beukema, and Molly and Andrew Twenhoefel; one great-granddaughter due in December; and many dear nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Friends may visit with the family from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, October 9, 2025, at St. Peter’s Cathedral Catholic Church, Belleville, IL.

Funeral: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 9, 2025, St. Peter’s Cathedral Catholic Church, Belleville, IL, with Fr. Godrey Mullen, OSB officiating.

Burial will follow at Green Mount Protestant Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
