Rancho Mirage, CA—Alfred R. Nation, 95, formerly of East Alton, passed away at 1:26 am Monday, April 24, 2017 in Rancho Mirage, CA. 

Born Dec. 5, 1921 in Springfield, IL, he was a son of Henry H. and Mary E. (Ward) Nation.

He married Lolletta M. Thomson May 7, 1960 in Meadowbrook.  She survives in Palm Desert, CA. 

A U.S. Coast Guard veteran of World War II, Alfred worked as a letter carried for the U.S. Postal Service in East Alton, IL. He was a member of Ivy Heights Church of God in Wood River.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, William H. Nation of Overland Park, KS and Bruce (Jill) Nation of Palm Desert, CA; his grandchildren, Joshua (Lisa) Nation of Bethalto, Eric (Kristy) Nation of East Alton, Jennifer (Michael) Del Toro of Gilbert, AZ, Harrison and Henry Nation of Palm Desert CA; great grandchildren, Andrew and Bryce Nation, Gaven, Karly, Lincoln Del Toro and Blakely Nation. He was preceded in death by his parents and six siblings, Robert, Harry, John, Beulah, Claire and Verna.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, May 12, 2017 at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights.  Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 13 at the Ivy Heights Church of God in Wood River. 

Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
