Alby Jean Wieneke, (nee Suhre), age 94, went to be with her Heavenly Father at 7:05 pm on Friday, November 17, 2017 at Calhoun Nursing and Rehab in Hardin, IL.
She was born on September 2, 1923 in Fort Gage, IL, the daughter of the late Ernst & Louise (Burgert) Suhre.
Alby was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hardin. She volunteered at the Calhoun Nursing and Rehab and loved to embroider, watch the St. Louis Cardinals and cook for her family and friends
She married Russell G. Wieneke Sr. on March 2, 1946 in Alton, and he preceded her in death on January 17, 1999.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Larry A. (Mary Kay) Wieneke of Hardin; two daughters and son-in-law’s, JoAnn (Michael) Davis of Lees Summit, MO and Diane (Gary) Bruce of Princeton, IL; a daughter-in-law, Sandy Wieneke of Effingham; seven grandchildren; twenty-two great grand-children and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Russ; six brothers, Vernon, Hugo, Billy, Charlie, Paul and Robert Suhre and two sisters, Mary Wieneke and Lucille Conner
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at Gress, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Hardin.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kampsville, with Pastor Jason Reed officiating.
Burial will follow at Hardin City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hardin, Calhoun Ambulance or Calhoun Nursing and Rehab recreational fund.
