Alberta "Bert" M. Wright, 89, passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at 7:03 am, at her residence.
She was born on November 1, 1934, in New Castle, PA, the daughter of Edward F. and Goldie M. (Fisher) Hollingsworth. Bert married Ray D. Wright in Alton, IL, on February 9, 1953, and he preceded her in death on April 4, 1997.
Bert worked from 1981 until her retirement in 2006 as an assessor for the Ft. Russell Township. She was a former member of Meadowbrook First Assembly of God. Currently she is a member at Cottage Hills Independent Baptist Church. She enjoyed golfing, sewing, eating out, playing cards, and spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include her two daughters, Linda (Robert) Edelen of Bethalto, and Mona "Candy" (Jim) Winfree of Bethalto; grandchildren, Captain James (Michelle) Davenport, Wendi Birdsong, Michael Wright, Stormi Wright, Holli (Jim) Bowers, Lori Winfree, Melani Winfree, and Joshua Winfree; and great-grandchildren; Austin, Samantha, A.J., Drew, Raegan, Daniel, Nathan, Elijah, Clara, Cora, Liam, and Levi.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray; a son, Michael Wright; two sisters, Alvina Kopf and Allena Carney; and three brothers, Harold Hollingsworth, James Hollingsworth, and Robert Hollingsworth.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 5, 2024, from 12 pm until time of service at 1 pm, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Dr. Ken Rutherford will officiate. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens.
Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
