Alberta Bick

JERSEYVILLE - Alberta Mae Bick, 85, died at 3:24 a.m., Monday, April 3, 2017 at Jerseyville Manor Nursing Home under the care of Blessing Hospice.She was born on June 18, 1931, in Fieldon, one of ten children born to the late Alvin "Everett" & Mary Daisy (Glowner) Meeks.Alberta graduated with the class of 1949 from Hardin High School and shortly after married Charles Elmer Bick on December 28, 1950 and resided in Hardin for many years before relocating to Jerseyville in 1972. Together they shared in 32 years of marriage and the joys that came with raising their two sons before Charlie's death on November 15, 1983.She was a longtime devoted employee of Jersey Community Hospital, working as a CNA and  made countless friends throughout the years, retiring in 2007 after 47 years of service.In her spare time, she enjoyed the calm and relaxation that came with knitting, crocheting and working on crossword puzzle. Alberta was also an avid bowler and never missed an outing with her Bingo Club.Surviving are two sons and their spouses, Alvin Bick, and his husband, Gary Parker of Virden and Robert & Janet Bick of Quincy; two grandchildren and their spouses, Chad & Gina Bick of Palmyra, MO and Angela & Chris Calvert of Beaufort, SC; a great-granddaughter, Savannah Calvert; as well as two sisters, Saphronia Oldaker of Avendale, PA and Dorothy Dabbs of Godfrey.In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Johnny, Harry, Jerry and Hershel Meeks and three sisters, Agnes Thuer, Helen Meeks and Mary Hill.Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until time of funeral services at 3 p.m., Friday, April 7, 2017 at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville. The Rev. John Huxtabale will officiate.Burial will take place alongside her husband at the Hardin Cemetery in Hardin.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville is in charge of arrangements.
