Alberta L. (Heidemann) Gallay, 90, passed away peacefully in her sleep, Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Rosewood Care Center in Alton.
She was born on December 27, 1926 in East Alton, one of four children born to the late Albert & Amelia (Kanter) Heidemann.
She married Alfred “Red” Gallay in 1949 and together they shared 61 years of marriage before his death on December 9, 2010.
Alberta was a homemaker and also worked for the family business, Wood River Used Auto Parts in Cottage Hills.
Alberta loved to cook and garden and spending time with her family.
Surviving are three children, Samuel Gallay of Jerseyville; Rochelle Gallay of Alton and Eric and Carmen Gallay of Jerseyville; a granddaughter, Maci Gallay; as well as a brother, Harold Heidemann of Fosterburg.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Helen (Heidemann) Newman and a brother, George Heidemann.
Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until time of funeral services at 2 p.m., Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.
Burial will take place at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.
Memorials may be given to Shriner’s Hospital in care of the funeral home.
